Body Language

Lots of people find it hard to believe that reading body language can tell them about 93% of the real intentions of the people they are dealing with but when you put in mind that there are liars, imposters, dishonest people and people who don't know how to express their emotions out there the results then make a lot of sense.

Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to perceive, control and evaluate emotions:
Perceiving emotions
Reasoning with emotions
Understanding emotions
Managing emotions

Coaching, in the context of training and development, is a form of training to develop the ability and experience of trainees by giving them systematically planned and progressively more ‘stretching’ tasks to perform, combined with continuous assessment and support.
Customer Service
Assertiveness is a learned skill. Customer Service Reps, in any industry, benefit from learning the values, beliefs, and strategies that accompany an assertive approach to communication. By adopting the Assertiveness approach, people are able to improve their client relationships, enhance their professionalism and reduce their personal stress.

Body language can make or break a deal. It
is a vital part of interpersonal communication. When properly used, body language can be your key to greater success.

It can help you develop positive business relationships, influence and motivate the people who report to you, improve productivity, bond with members of your team, and present your ideas with more impact.

Emotional Intelligence is an essential part
of our daily interactions and well-being. Individuals with high EQ have the skills of effective communication. It regulates personal emotions to facilitate effective thinking, action and relationships.

Body language on the other hand, helps us connect better with people, advance relationship skills and ensure the right message is being conveyed, thus creating greater opportunities for ourselves.

In the professional world, EQ has been acknowledged by many as one of the key to success factors for career advancement and improvement. EQ is the ability to be aware of and to manage emotions and relationships.

Unlike IQ which does not change significantly over a lifetime, our EQ can evolve and increase with our desire to learn and grow.

Emotional intelligence (EI) plays a vital role
in social sciences. The concept of emotional intelligence among teachers is of great importance now days.

EI skills are really required to make the teachers’ performance very effective. These skills, include self-expression of emotions, conflict resolution, and empathy...

Developing emotional intelligence (EQ) improves the environment in the classroom as well, making it easier for teachers to teach and students to learn.

Good communication means good business. Body language gives you the advantage in interactions and negotiations with others. Mastering this ability will give you more confidence and skill in handling social and business interactions.

Employees with high EQ are better able to work in teams, adjust to change and be flexible.

"An individual's success at work and life is 80% dependent on EQ and only 20% dependent on IQ"

Great leaders have already a good self-awareness, they are aware of their leadership style. Recognizing how their style influence their team, makes these leaders exceptional.

Truly great leaders identify, understand and not only manage their own emotions, but are able to do that with others in a very empowering way.

This is referred to as having emotional intelligence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Soft Skills
What are Soft Skills?
Soft skills are a person’s Emotional Quotient (EQ). Comprising communication skills, self-management skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, they also include personal habits, friendliness, optimism and other similar traits. If we use a broad and relevant definition, they include the way you present yourself, your vocal and verbal communication skills, body language, etiquette, your emotional intelligence and empathy, stress and time management. They also include effective team management and leadership skills, your ability to negotiate well and your coaching skills too.

Why do Soft Skills Matter?
Pathways to Prosperity, a Harvard project related to preparing young adults for work refers to the importance of giving them soft skills in addition to learning and experience in a career area to do better at finding jobs.
When Target Training International conducted research over a group of serial entrepreneurs, comparing them with a control group, it found that 5 distinct personal skills helped them predict with over 90 percent accuracy who would become serial entrepreneurs.
These 5 qualities, the ability to persuade people to change the way they think, believe or behave; leadership; personal accountability demonstrated through initiative, self-confidence, resilience and willingness to take responsibility for personal actions; goal orientation and; interpersonal skills are soft skills that can be learnt with training.
Realizing this fact, organizations have turned their attention to soft skills during the selection process. They are encouraging their employees to enhance their soft skills through programs from in-house executives as well as external consultants. Educational institutions, including schools, colleges and institutions of higher education are including soft skills within their curriculum.

Emotional Intelligence
What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is your ability to identify your emotions, understand the impact of those emotions and manage them intelligently.  EQ includes your ability to understand the emotions of others, understand the impact of those emotions on your relationships and then self-correct.
In contrast to EQ there is IQ – your intellectual capacity.  IQ measures your cognitive abilities, including your ability to analyze, perceive, memorize, use logic and use reasoning effectively.

Why is EQ important?
Emotional self-awareness is your key to being a happy, content person who relates well to others and is the foundation for self-management, social awareness and relational management. Distressing emotions that are not managed well affect your ability to think, focus and get work done.
Conflicts with others will not be successfully resolved without addressing well the emotions that produced the conflict and the pain associated with it.
Can you really develop your EQ?
Yes, unlike IQ, EQ is a dynamic skill which can be improved upon by training, coaching and experience. You can learn to understand what your emotional “triggers” are that result in your loss of behavioral control, and create emotional strategies to help you develop ways to handle these situations and act in a more productive way.

How can increasing EQ improve decision making?
Your emotions are fundamental to decision making; they drive your actions. By understanding how your emotions are influencing your choices you can learn to pause, recognize what you are feeling and think before responding.

Intrapersonal Skills refer to the ability to understand oneself.
Self-Awareness: The ability to recognize and understand your moods, emotions, and drives, as well as their effect on others.
Self-Regulation:  The ability to control or redirect disruptive impulses and moods and the propensity to suspend judgment and think before acting.
Motivation: A passion to work for reasons that go beyond money or status and a propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence.

Interpersonal Skills refer to the ability to identify and understand how to effectively relate to and work with others.
Empathy: The ability to understand the emotional makeup of other people.
Social Skills: A proficiency in managing relationships and building networks.

Body Language
Can Body Language help my career?
Many professionals often underestimate the importance of nonverbal communication. Most people plan what they’re going to say in meetings, but they completely ignore their body language—which is often half the message. Study have shown that 55% of the impression people form of you is based on your posture, body movements and gestures, 38% are based on the tone of your voice and only 7% is based on whay you say. But this applies to certain situations and, more importantly, should not be used as a deciding factor to try and understand the situation. A proper analysis needs to occur to fully grasp what the person's current emotions are at that moment. One way of increasing your accuracy is applying the 3 C's of Nonverbal Communication: context, clusters, and congruence.
In general, when you’re not thinking of optimizing your body language, you are only using 40 percent of your communication ability.

Why is Body Language important?
It helps us understand how we come across to other people and be able to send the right message. We can then read the signals that another person is sending back. By adjusting the way we stand, move, dress and interact we can make encounters with other human beings much easier and smoother.
